FAQs
What is the official JAMB cut-off mark for 2026 admission?
The official JAMB cut-off mark for 2026 has not yet been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. JAMB usually announces the minimum benchmark during the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions, typically held around June or July. However, universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education may later set their own institutional cut-off marks, which are usually higher than JAMB’s minimum benchmark.
Does scoring above the JAMB cut-off mark guarantee admission in 2026?
No, scoring above the JAMB cut-off mark does not guarantee admission. Meeting the cut-off only makes you eligible to apply for a school’s Post-UTME or screening. Admission decisions also depend on:
Your Post-UTME / screening performance
Departmental cut-off marks
Number of available spaces
O-level grades (WAEC/NECO)
Catchment area and merit ranking
So, it’s important to perform well beyond the minimum cut-off to increase your chances.
Will universities have different cut-off marks from JAMB in 2026?
Yes. While JAMB sets a general minimum cut-off, each institution has the right to set a higher departmental cut-off mark. For example, competitive courses like Medicine, Law, Engineering, and Nursing usually require higher scores (often 180–250+), depending on the school. Less competitive courses may have lower requirements. Always check your school’s official admission portal for the specific 2026 cut-off marks.
