FAQs
What is the official JAMB cut-off mark for 2026?
The official JAMB cut-off mark for 2026 will be announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during the policy meeting with universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Generally, the minimum cut-off is 140 for universities, 120 for polytechnics, and 100 for colleges of education, but institutions are allowed to set higher cut-off marks depending on their admission requirements.
Can a student gain admission with a JAMB score below the cut-off mark?
No, candidates who score below the official JAMB cut-off mark cannot be considered for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria. However, if a candidate’s score is above the general JAMB cut-off but below their chosen school’s departmental cut-off, they may consider changing institutions or courses with lower requirements.
Do all schools use the same JAMB cut-off mark in 2026?
No. While JAMB provides the general minimum cut-off mark, each university, polytechnic, or college of education sets its own departmental cut-off marks for different courses. For example, competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering usually have higher cut-off marks compared to courses in Education or Agriculture.
